Protectors of Gundahar: Looking Down Our Nose with Marlicia Renji-Pirdoux
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
Last week on the show, Mtn_Dew69 and Gavin played excerpts of an NPR program called Looking Down Our Nose, hosted by Pledge Krackelbar and featuring an interview with indie director Marlicia Renji-Pirdoux. Mtn and Gavin's commentary was bizarrely if predictably emotional. They have yet to send us another completed podcast. So, while it might be considered piracy to do so, we've decided to post the full episode of Looking Down Our Nose on our feed, as this week's installment. You know, for context.

SKEERT 03 - Polly Schattel
Thursday Oct 15, 2020
Thursday Oct 15, 2020
In a particularly satisfying episode, filmmaker and author Polly Schattel joins the show to talk about her debut novel, The Occultists, a richly-detailed, propulsive, and sometime gruesome period piece/ adventure story available now from JournalStone Publishing. It's a wide-ranging conversation that includes Polly's early years in rural Alabama, the research that went into her book, and a lot more. Folks who have read The Occultists should stick around till the end for a spoiler-y discussion of a few key events and characters.

SKEERT 02 - The Turn of the Screw with Bekah and Kelly
Friday Oct 09, 2020
Friday Oct 09, 2020
Henry James's influential 1898 horror story The Turn of the Screw has been adapted multiple times, most famously into the 1961 film The Innocents, which still has the power to make your skin crawl. Devoted readers Bekah Eaton and Kelly Fuller stop by for this meeting of the SKEERT Book Club to discuss the novella and the movie, just as Netflix debuts a new mini-series version of the story. It's Bly Manor's world, we're just living in it.

Protectors of Gundahar: Episode Zero
Tuesday Oct 06, 2020
Tuesday Oct 06, 2020
FYIz is proud to announce PROTECTORS OF GUNDAHAR, a new podcast hosted by obsessed fans of a deeply obscure series of fantasy books, G. Ellison R. R. Sadler's MOONS OF GUNDAHAR series. It's about as niche as they come but, as struggling podcast impresarios, we're willing to try anything. In this episode, executive producers John Walker and Chris Garrison set the stage for show hosts Mtn_Dew69 and his friend Gavin to explain why you'd tune in for such trivial nonsense. (Hint: It might be the fun kind of train wreck!)

Playing Records with John: The Music of Greg Lisher and Camper Van Beethoven
Friday Jul 03, 2020
Friday Jul 03, 2020
John is joined by filmmaker and author Polly Schattel as they discuss the subtle and ear-catching artistry of Greg Lisher—guitarist for Camper Van Beethoven and Monks of Doom—first amongst themselves and then with the man himself! It's the opposite of one of those "never meet your heroes" situations; Greg opens up about the early days of CVB, his influences, and his brand-new instrumental solo record, Songs from the Imperial Garden.

Star Wars Support Group: Name All The Background Droids In Narnia
Monday May 04, 2020
Monday May 04, 2020
Fans—both of each other and of the so-called Skywalker Saga—Bekah Eaton, Jonathan Eaton, and John Walker convene for the first meeting of Star Wars Support Group, a safe place to enthuse shamelessly and voice concerns about the most overhyped, overrated, overexposed and totally awesome film franchise ever. In this installment, they talk about Episodes I-III, aka the Prequel Trilogy. Among other stuff.
