Oh It's John, Episode 4: Fall Jamz 2018
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Thursday Dec 20, 2018
Getting in just under the wire before the Solstice, Nagle and Walker are back with a cornucopia of seasonally-appropriate Jamz they enjoyed during Fall 2018, and which will surely give comfort for months to come. From rustic British pop to so-called yacht rock, with country-tinged R&B in between. Listen up! And learn to judge a person not by their foibles, but by the seriousness of their funk.

For Your Infotazement: Earworms
Saturday Nov 17, 2018
Saturday Nov 17, 2018
There are a lot of reasons a song might get stuck in your head. Sometimes it’s because the thing is so darn catchy. Other times, it might be a theme or idea that resonates with you. But once it’s in there, a true earworm won’t leave. In this episode, I chat with a gaggle of folks about the tunes that plague them, in addition to breaking down the lyrical quirk of a particular classic rock cut which has nagged at me for decades.
NOTE: This is an archival podcast originally released on July 6th, 2015.
Chris Garrison is a cartoonist and inventor of games and has been my friend since 7th grade. Peep his crazycool drawings at garrisonsjunk.blogspot.com.
Underground mainstay Skizz Cyzyk creates movies and music and does many fun things related to movies and music. Try to make sense of all the hats he wears by checking out his web-hub, skizz.net.
Comedian Ronald James is co-host, along with yours truly and our pal Steve Reter, of Movie Schmovie, a film conversation podcast that will hopefully make you laugh and give you a safe place to overthink your cinematic favorites. Find it at movieschmovie.net.
And speaking of film podcasts, you really should be listening The Projection Booth, on which Mike White, Rob St. Mary, and a shockingly comprehensive gang of guests go deeper than anyone else into the way movies are made and how they make us feel. It’s addictive and it awaits you here at projection-booth.blogspot.com.
Check out Jess Rapisarda’s wonderful and often hilarious blog at welcometothebundle.blogspot.com.
Shit-Stirring Benn Ray’s trenchant opinions and observations can be enjoyed @mobtownshank. And if you’re ever in Hampden, MD, pop in to Atomic Books for some good reads, art toys, and cold beer, possibly served by the man himself.

Another excellent season of Better Call Saul draws to a close, and Chris and John are here for one last conversation about Jimmy's slip and Mike's measures, as well as a breakdown of the pilot episode of Mork & Mindy in the final round of our spinoff challenge. It's all... pretty swell, fellow.
Watch the Mork & Mindy pilot so you can laugh knowingly at our tangents!

Saul Searching: Wiedersehen (S4/E9)
Sunday Oct 07, 2018
Sunday Oct 07, 2018
Chris and John take in the penultimate episode of Better Call Saul's fourth season, "Wiedersehen," and puzzle over where all of this is heading in the upcoming finale. They also assess another spinoff challenger in the form of Yogi's Galaxy Goof-Ups, a Hanna-Barbera show from 1978 that exemplifies the inescapable animation studio's cartoon-spewing, budget-conscious ethos at the time.
Tune in to the Galaxy Goof-Ups pilot here! Just don't blame us.

Wednesday Oct 03, 2018
Wednesday Oct 03, 2018
Chris and John chat about "Coushatta," another dazzling episode of Better Call Saul that adds a new dimension to Jimmy and Kim's relationship. Then they turn their attentions to Saul's latest spinoff challenger: The Lone Gunmen. This X-Files offshoot ran for 13 episodes in early 2001 and a few things have happened since then. How does it hold up? The truth behind it all is laid bare in this very podcast.

Saul Searching: Something Stupid (S4/E7)
Friday Sep 21, 2018
Friday Sep 21, 2018
Looking for another challenger to Better Call Saul's place atop the spinoff heap, Chris and John give their customized globe a (final?) whirl and land in the magical land known as Baywatch Nights. Only then does the battle between Odenkirk and Hasselhoff begin. Whose side are you on?
P.S. The latest Better Call Saul episode, "Something Stupid," is also discussed (duh).
Baywatch Nights had two iterations, a detective show and an X-Files ripoff. Watch the first version here:

Saul Searching: Piñata (S4/E6)
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Chris and John don their finest track suits and lure "Piñata," the latest episode of Better Call Saul, into a trap. (A recap and discussion trap.) When that's settled, we're off to face another spinoff challenger, this time in the form of a highly-successful, long-running primetime soap that straddled the 80s and then some: Knots Landing. Then come back and tell us if this podcast is closer to bearnaise or mayo.
Watch a nauseous-making rip of the Knots Landing pilot that somebody uploaded with Image Stabilization swtiched on, rendering the backgrounds as seething, breathing, acid trip hallucinations!

For Your Infotazement: Embarrassment
Tuesday Sep 11, 2018
Tuesday Sep 11, 2018
NOTE: This is an archival episode first released in June of 2015.
Infotazement is a word that describes any topic deemed of interest by me, John Walker, the host of the show. If that sounds vague and solipsistic, then you’re beginning to understand. Each episode will involve multiple personalities expounding on a theme, as dictated, again, by me.
This episode is all about embarrassment, and I’ve brought together a group of experts on the subject.
Comedian Ronald James, as well as being the ‘voice’ of the show, talks about how embarrassment fuels his onstage persona. Jonathan Eaton and Bekah Weininger, a pair of very busy creative types who are also married to each other, share some awkward anecdotes. And blogger Jessica Rapisarda joins us to discuss how her upbringing gave her the thick skin required to make her private life public.
Along the way we toss drinks at the wrong person, do weird things in traffic, flirt by shoving, toss feminine products around, and generally makes asses of ourselves. At least we have each other.
Follow Ronald James on the film podcast we both co-host with Steve Reter at movieschmovie.com.
Follow Bekah Weininger on Twitter @bekahweininger.
Follow Jonathan Eaton on Twitter @jonbrak and keep up with his silly and demented comics at thisis65.com.

Saul Searching: Quite A Ride (S4/E5)
Monday Sep 10, 2018
Monday Sep 10, 2018
Chris and John spy a great opportunity for TV chat in the pilot for The Girl from U.N.C.L.E., a spinoff of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. that mysteriously recasts its main roles and hinges most of its appeal on the charms of a mission-critical dachshund. Oh yeah, plus a new episode of Better Call Saul gets the usual scrutiny. Fun!

Chris and John spin a globe and land on this week's spinoff challenger, "The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley," before digging into a slow boil of a Better Call Saul episode that is punctuated by a very "Breaking Bad"-ish shootout. Then it's time for Martin Short's beloved and bizarre sketch character, whose animated incarnation ran for one season on NBC in 1988. Which spinoff will emerge victorious? Pretend you care!
Watch The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley pilot with us! (It's a convoluted and creepy link, but it takes you there...)
